Top 5 Contenders For IPL Orange Cap

The biggest cricketing tournament of the year is set to start from the 19th of September 2020, The Indian Premier League is a spectacle of cricket, and as in previous years the excitement surrounding the tournament is excellent.

In recent years cricket has become slightly batsmen favoured, the batsmen have been scoring freely and heavily especially in T20 tournaments, and it would be interesting to see which batman scores the highest runs in this year’s competition and wins the Orange Cap.
Here we list out five players we think can win the Orange Cap:

David Warner:

David Warner has been a beast in the IPL; the Australian Opener is a three-time Orange Cup winner, he won the accolade in 2015, 2017 and 2019. Warner has been playing well for his country and has been in great form.Warner has scored 4,706 runs in the IPL till now and is amongst the top 5 run-getters of the tournament.

KL Rahul:

KL Rahul has been in great form for the Indian Cricket team and especially in T20s Rahul has been performing well. In India’s T20 series against New Zealand, Rahul was easily the best player making 224 runs.KL has also been amongst the top 3 run-getters in the previous 2 edition of the IPL; he finished second with 593 runs in 2019 and 3rd with 659 runs in 2018.

Rohit Sharma:

Rohit Sharma is a proven IPL great, he has scored a plethora of runs in the IPL and has led Mumbai Indians to victory on more than one occasions. Rohit has always been consistent and has scored decent runs in every IPL season and looking at his recent form this might just be the year in which Rohit Sharma wins the Orange Cap.

Jonny Bairstow:

Jonny made his IPL debut last year and immediately went on to impress critics and fans alike, Bairstow made 445 runs last IPL and would have made many more if he hadn’t left the tournament in the middle.Bairstow has the ability to find gaps as well as the ability to hit the ball hard, Bairstow will open for the Sunrisers and maybe his year he can win the Orange Cap from his opening partner David Warner.

Virat Kohli:

Virat Kohli is arguably the best batsmen in the world; Virat has been performing consistently high for almost a decade now and shows no sign of stopping. Virat has performed excellent in the IPL and is the highest run-scorer in IPL history scoring 5412 runs. Kohli scored 973 runs in IPL 2016 and showed the world, how dangerous he is when in full flow.
These five batsmen have a high chance of winning the Orange Cap. Still, many other great players can also lay their hands on the prize, players like Quinten de Kock, Shreyas Iyer, Andre Russel and Shubhman Gill are talented enough to become the highest run-scorer of this years IPL. The IPL is scheduled to start from the 19th of September, and it would be interesting to see how all these batsmen perform in the tournament.
